The presence of senescent cells has been shown to increase with age and may even be causal for some aspects of aging. Senolytics selectively kill senescent cells. But many current senolytic drugs (fisetin, quercetin, PCC1) are likely to have some impact on healthy cells.
A new study has proposed a senolytic vaccine that targets cells expressing the membrane protein Gpnmb.
