This is the MOST powerful waterfall of Europe (sometimes second most, depending on the metric used) and approximately 100 metres wide!

Accessibility:

Dettifoss can be accessed from two sides, each offering different perspectives:

East Side: Route 864 provides a closer, more dramatic view, with a path leading right up to the waterfall’s edge. However, this route is less developed and needs a 4x4.

West Side: Route 862 is more accessible, with better roads and parking facilities. This side is the one with a viewing platform.

Safety:

The paths around Dettifoss can be slippery and dangerous, especially in wet or icy conditions, so it’s essential to wear sturdy shoes. Also, expect to get wet if you get close to the falls. Carry your rain gear and dress in layers ❤️
