Building A Better Society in Tropico 5

Is it just me or are things just getting crazy out there?
Anyway my wife and I are here to try and build a better world in Tropic 5 where we are the President of our own island.
Will we succeed in creating a paradise for the people?
Or fail miserably as a state? Do we know anything about exports??
