A Masterclass in Childhood Cancer Registration: How & Why?

Dr Eva Steliarova-Foucher describes how and why IARC and partners developed a masterclass for the registration of childhood cancer, as well as the impact this has had on building capacity, a key area of the “Targeting Childhood Cancer through the Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development (ChildGICR)” project.

IARC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital launched ChildGICR as a bilateral collaborative agreement in May 2020. Graduates of the ChildGICR masterclass were nominated to become members of GICRNet, a network of trainers who co-develop education material and disseminate their expertise through courses or consultancies to those who need training or assistance in the six IARC Hub regions. The ChildGICR Masterclass was launched as part of the ongoing activities of the GICRNet to form networks of regional trainers on specific topics in cancer registration.
