Rampant hunger, disease and sexual violence are a “living nightmare” for the people of Sudan, where 11 million are now internally displaced, and over three million have fled across borders to escape the country’s devastating conflict.
Speaking from Port Sudan on Tuesday, UN migration agency (IOM) chief Amy Pope reiterated the UN’s call for an end to hostilities, protection of civilians and humanitarian access. “We cannot allow Sudan to be forgotten,” she said.
