The Waiting Game - Acting Exercise to Help You Wait

When we are feeling out of place on stage during a scene, it's usually because we aren't fully experiencing the location of the scene and bringing that location to the imagination.

In this exercise, created by Uta Hagen, actors will practice simply waiting in a specific location. They will shed themselves of their history, conflicts and tasks and simply wait. You will discover how your character acts when there is nothing dramatic happening. You will also discover how they respond to simple environmental stimuli to create an honest physicalization of the character when they are just standing and listening.
