PROMISES Day 6: Deepening into Side Body with Wall Stick Work
Good morning and welcome back to Yoga with Ciara. Today marks day six of our "Promises" series. Last night, during my in-person class, I recalled a sequence from the early days of our yoga journey together, which we'll revisit today with a new element—using a wall or a stick for support. This will help us deepen our connection to our side body.
For those without a wall space like Caroline, feel free to use a sweeping brush or a similar long stick. Today, make sure to have your tins ready as well, as they'll be part of our exploration.
Let's begin in child's pose, extending your arms forward, breathing deeply, and setting the intention for kindness and depth in today's practice. As you settle in, stretch your hands to one side and then the other, focusing on the right side body's scaffolding and allowing yourself to fully experience the stretch.
Transitioning to our feet, we'll incorporate the tins in our movements, enhancing the depth of each pose. The tins not only add weight but also an element of balance and focus, which intensifies our practice.
Today’s session is about reconnecting with the foundational movements that have shaped our journey, now enriched with the support of a wall or stick. These tools help us access and awaken parts of our body in new ways, offering a fresh perspective on familiar poses.
As we move through each posture, remember to honor where you are in your practice today. Allow the support of the wall or stick to guide you deeper into each movement, finding strength and stability in the support itself.

This journey is an invitation to engage deeply with practices of self-care, commitment, focus, and habit formation.
What to Expect: Each day, we will focus on the promises we make to ourselves. Whether it’s a commitment to meditate, practice yoga, draw, paint, write, rest, sing, dance, eat healthily, or any other personal vow, this journey is about bringing sincerity and joy to these commitments. It’s about honoring our word to ourselves as an act of self-care, self-love.
Daily Commitment:
Choose a Commitment: At the start of the journey, I encourage you to choose a personal promise—something you wish to adhere to for the next 21 days.
Daily Practice: Whateverr it is, dedicate time each day to this commitment.
Reflective Journaling: If a day comes when you cannot fulfill your promise, spend five minutes journaling about why it wasn't possible or why you chose not to follow through. Approach this practice with kindness and understanding towards yourself.
Why This Journey? The 21 Days of PROMISES is not just about following through but also about understanding our actions and reactions without judgment. It’s about refining our speech, our habits, and our internal promises to reveal a more integrated and authentic self.
