HASTINGS CAVES, TASMANIA | Australia's southernmost street in Cockle Creek | Tassie vlog #6

We began the day hoping to see Remarkable Cave on the Tasman Peninsula but unfortunately the track was closed due to works being completed.

We then went to Port Arthur Historic Site and explored the old settlement. There was so much history but unfortunately we didn't have much time to spend here.

Next we headed south as we had a tour booked at Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs for a guided tour through Newdegate Cave. It's the largest tourist dolomite cave in Australia and began forming over 40 million years ago. The caves were incredible and the guides were extremely knowledgable. This is a must see while in Tasmania!

Unfortunately we didn't have time to fit in the thermal springs and it was closed for the day after our tour ended.

With a few hours of daylight left we went further South down to Cockle Creek to the see the Australia's southernmost street (the end of the road), located in Southwest National Park. The most southern part of Australia was extremely beautiful with so many campsites along the beach. To get to the southernmost point was a 16km walk and we didn't have time so we gave it a miss. We did the quick walk to the whale sculpture though.

We then drove all the way back up to Kettering where we booked accomodation at Oyster Cove Chalet for two nights as it was forecast quite a lot. The room was so nice, we got breakfast hampers left for us and handmade chocolates on the bed. We also had a balcony with a lovely view. We decided to stay in Kettering so we were close to the ferry to get us to Bruny Island the following day.
