Gender and Genocide - Amplifying Voices from Gaza and Building Anti-Colonial Feminist Solidarities

The event occurred at MAL B33, Malet Street Building, Birkbeck, University of London, Malet Street, WC1E 7HX.

In this in-person event, which took place during International Women’s Week, the ‘Except Palestine’ series came to Birkbeck.

Attendees had the opportunity to listen to scholars from Birzeit University who joined online from Palestine and spoke about women's experiences of displacement, the politics of gender in representations of the genocide, and Israel's weaponization of women’s rights to delegitimize anti-colonial resistance, while specifically drawing from the experiences and articulations of women from Gaza.

Additionally, attendees heard in-person from feminist scholars based in Britain who reflected on the theme of countering colonial and imperial feminism and initiated a discussion with the audience on how to build feminist solidarities with Palestine.
