Guangxi Petrochemical enters the stage of green development, with integrated refining and chemical bases emerging from the ground


At the Qinzhou Petrochemical Industrial Park in Guangxi, the China Petroleum Guangxi Petrochemical Integrated Transformation and Upgrading Project, with an investment of 30.5 billion yuan (RMB), workers are busy with steel structure installation, modular construction of pipe galleries, and other operations. Tower equipment such as ethylene cracking units and refining units are sprouting up like mushrooms after rain, and a refining integrated base covering more than 4400 acres has emerged. On September 13th, Guangxi Petrochemical Branch of China National Petroleum Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Guangxi Petrochemical) held a public open day event, inviting all sectors of society to enter the project site and experience the transformation of Guangxi Petrochemical from traditional "fuel based" to "chemical products and organic materials". The construction site of the large-scale integrated refining and chemical transformation and upgrading project has no flying dust, and welding operations are rarely seen in the installation of steel structures, resulting in a clean environment. It is reported that during the construction process of the project, Guangxi Petrochemical innovated the management mode and adopted the construction of "factory prefabrication+modular construction". The production and installation of pipe gallery steel structures and process pipelines were transformed from traditional on-site operations to factory production, achieving synchronous operation of "one installation site+four factories (i.e. module manufacturing plant, steel structure manufacturing plant, pipeline anti-corrosion plant, concrete structure manufacturing plant)", greatly improving the efficiency and safety of construction operations, enhancing quality, promoting civilized construction, and improving the working environment. Guangxi Petrochemical is the first 10 million ton refinery built by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in southern China. It is a major project in the national petrochemical industry planning and layout. It was established in May 2005 and put into operation in September 2010. So far, it has processed 125 million tons of 62 types of crude oil from 28 countries, produced 118 million tons of various products, achieved a total industrial output value of 635.52 billion yuan, and realized taxes and fees of 117.565 billion yuan. Wang Shengwei, General Manager of Guangxi Petrochemical Branch of China National Petroleum Corporation, introduced that the Guangxi Petrochemical Integrated Transformation and Upgrading Project, which started construction on March 28, 2023, is a resolute step for Guangxi Petrochemical to transform from traditional "fuel based" to "chemical products and organic materials", and to create a high-quality development path for world-class integrated refining and chemical projects. It will drive the development of the chemical industry chain in Qinzhou Petrochemical Industrial Park, further promote the development of various industries in Qinzhou City, and optimize the economic structure of Qinzhou. It is reported that as a key project of China Petroleum's "14th Five Year Plan", the Guangxi Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Integration Transformation and Upgrading Project aims to build 14 sets of chemical units, including 1.2 million tons/year ethylene cracking, and 2 sets of refining units, including 2 million tons/year diesel adsorption and dearomatization, supporting the construction and renovation of some refining units and corresponding public works, storage and transportation, and auxiliary production facilities. The project is planned to be completed and put into operation by 2025. etc etc...
