World Wind Day|June 15|Global Wind Day|Wind Power Events|Wind Energy Facts,Benefits|Tirupathi Rao|

Global Wind Day:

Global wind Day is a world wide Celebrate Event on June 15th.It is organised by Europe Wind Energy Association(EWEA) and Global Wind Energy Council(GWEC).

This Day Governments,Companies,Experts organize Events of wind power around the world and Educate Adults,Children About Wind Energy.

"Wind" is the movement of air from high pressure areas to low pressure areas.

Wind is caused by uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun.

Hot air rises up and cool air flows in to take its place.

We Get Wind Power By using Turbines From The air.

2007:

First Wind day is inagurated and celebrate In Europe by European Wind Energy Association(EWEA).

2009:

This Year EWEA Join Hands With GWEC And Celebrate Wind Day Globally.

From this year onwards The day is Global Wind Day Or World Wind Day.

Events include

1.visits to onshore and offshore wind farms

2.information campaigns

3.demonstration turbines being set up in cities

4.wind workshops

5.wind parade.

Wind Energy Facts

1.Windmills have been around for a long time, they were used in Persia (Iran) as far back as 2000 B.C.

2.In 1997 wind power generated only 0.1% of the world’s electricity, this increased to 1.5% in 2008 and 2.5% in 2010.

3.In some countries such as Denmark and Portugal, wind power contributes around 20% of the total electricity production.

4.Wind energy is clean and renewable energy.

5.Smaller turbines are sometimes used to charge batteries or as backup power in caravans and sailing ships.

6.Large groups of wind turbines are called wind farms.

7.Around 80 different countries use wind power to generate electricity commercially.

8.Wind turbines can even be installed offshore on floating structures, sending the electricity generated back to land with the help of undersea cables.

Wind Engergy Benefits:

1.Wind energy doesn’t pollute the air like power plants that rely on combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas.

2. Wind turbines don’t produce atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain or greenhouse gasses.

3.It is sustainable

4.It is Cost effective.
