I started my career in psychiatry to help people—but the reality of the system was nothing like I expected. From rushed appointments to a relentless focus on medication, I saw firsthand how psychiatric drugs were overprescribed while their long-term harms were ignored. After working at the FDA and then in the pharmaceutical industry, I couldn’t ignore the ethical dilemmas any longer.

I walked away from it all to co-found Taper Clinic, where we help people safely get off psychiatric drugs. In this video, I share why I left, what I witnessed behind the scenes, and how we’re working to change the system.
