The real reason I look forward to Lunar New Year is these amazing lo bak go (turnip cake in English, kanom pakkaad in Thai) that my mother in law makes. They are epic.
But last year a Canadian friend asked me "what is it like?" I didn't have a good explanation. No matter how I tried to describe it, it just doesn't sound very good lol ("imagine shredded daikon mixed with rice flour and steamed into a slab...").
So if you're new to it, take a leap of faith and trust that it's good :)
