What is the importance of "Maintenance of status" in H1-B extension?

Suppose an employer fills for an H1-B extension in the H1-B 2023 cap petition season; in that case, maintaining the current visa status is an integral part of the qualification. This rule applies to a beneficiary if one changes from different status to H1-B, like from F1 to H1-B.
The maintenance of status is vital. Otherwise, it can call for an H1-B RFE from USCIS. On the other hand, if the beneficiary is outside the US and is opting for counsellor processing, then the maintenance of status will never come as a hindrance.
