Gino was imprisoned in a house of horrors. He had escaped a cruel end before, but his current circumstances were draining the life out of him, and he was certain he wouldn’t live to see another day. Gino was so thin and so weak that it was hard to think straight. He couldn’t see a way out of his deadly predicament—until authorities intervened. Now, this pup is safe with us, but he needs so much more help if he’s going to survive.

Two years ago, when Gino was still a tiny puppy, he thought he had finally been saved. The “rescue” had taken him in when he was on death’s door. He was pulled from a kill-shelter’s last call list, beating all the odds against him. With the help of a persistent foster mom who didn’t listen to the “rescue” that insisted this pup didn’t need to go to the vet, Gino survived Coccidia and Distemper when his littermates did not. But now, due to horrific circumstances, Gino is in need of saving. All. Over. Again.

When Gino’s neurological symptoms from Distemper worsened, his “rescuer” didn’t seek treatment. She took him to her house and trapped him there for years. Every day in that house was a NIGHTMARE. Flash forward to the present day, during a recent police investigation of the “rescue” and its premises, it was revealed that OVER 50 animals were living in dangerously unsanitary conditions. Feces and trash piled high, blocking access to food and water. As if that wasn’t horrible enough, authorities discovered three deceased dogs who had succumbed to abuse and neglect.

As the police handle their further investigation into animal cruelty, our team is buckling down to save Gino. This hurting pup is safely at our rescue facility, but his fight is still ongoing. He is emaciated. His nails have grown way too long, curling under his paws and stabbing through his skin. His coat is caked with feces and stained with urine. Each laborious breath makes a frightening gurgling sound. Gino is at risk of euthanasia due to how severe his medical needs are, but we are determined to see him through to a happy ending. Our team is losing sleep and sanity as we try desperately to rescue Gino, but we know that it’s too big a task to tackle all by ourselves. We desperately need support.

Gino escaped a cruel fate once before, and now we are hoping against hope that he can rise above his current suffering. We will be holding his paw throughout, but his needs are greater than what we can provide alone. Please, we can’t let Gino die after everything he’s been through.
