Frenchie Family Calls The Junkyard Their Home, Mama Scavenges The Trash For A Meal [STORY BELOW]

Throughout Miami, there has been a startling increase in the number of dumped dogs. As Animal Control drives through the streets, they often spot several frightened, hungry, and sometimes wounded pups shuddering on a culdesac. This poor mama was sadly no exception to this crisis.

This adorable Frenchie, Sable, wandered aimlessly in search of a place to comfortably give birth to her babies. She had been abandoned, left behind like her well-being didn’t matter. And now, desperate for a meal and exhausted from her days spent fending for herself, she was about to pop with helpless puppies dependent solely on her for their survival.

Eventually, Sable grew too tired to continue. She settled in a junkyard, lying atop a pile of rusted metal and putrid garbage, the stinky dumpster their only source of protection. Lured by the babies’ cries on a routine scout, we walked over and stopped in our tracks, heartbroken by what we saw.

The babies huddled around their sweet mama as she licked them tenderly, feeding them whatever she had left. We couldn’t imagine that a pup so sweet, so adorable, could end up in a place like this, barely clinging on. Carefully, we coaxed Sable and her babies from their makeshift shelter and guided them into our open arms. Once safely in our car, we whisked them to our trusted vet.

This poor family is being tended to as we write this. They are receiving round-the-clock care and monitoring to ensure they get everything they need to recover and thrive. The babies will need to be vaccinated and, like their mama, eventually fixed. Sable needs nourishing food, assessments to rule out any underlying issues, and, of course, a warm bed where she can relax with her littles. All of them deserve to know what it feels like to be loved and cared for.

At Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue, we strive to make a difference for every animal who wanders upon our doors. No animal should be subjected to the harsh outdoors, lying in a heap of garbage. Especially not a new mama trying her best to care for her babies. We’re still reeling at the thought of who could have done this, but all that matters now is ensuring these pups are taken care of.
