CoRoT 7b - The exoplanet where it rains molten rock

The exoplanet CoRoT-7b lies 2.5 million kilometres from it’s star. In this video I take a virtual journey there and explore this cruel world.
I tried to keep the science as accurate as possible. In the sky, the sun would cover 24 degrees of arc and so appear as large as it does in the video. All orbital periods and distances are as accurate as I could make them. I did have to make a few artistic decisions which I will discuss now.
1) Sound. If there is no atmosphere then there will be no molecules to transmit any sound, so this was very much an artistic decision.
2) The rain of iron would more than likely be microscopic, so would not actually be visible.
3) If there is no atmosphere and therefore no wind, there would be no lava waves. However internal forces and gravitational forces from the star may produce lava tides so I felt having the lava move was a reasonable decision (plus I think it looks better).
4) If the star is so close then even with no atmosphere to diffuse the light, there would probably be no other stars visible in the sky, but I prefer the way that looks.
5) Finally with the pronunciation of the planet, and I don’t know if I’m right or wrong here. I have heard others say CoRoT with a silent T, presumably because it’s a French mission and telescope. I have decided to pronounce the T since the T stands for Transits, and in that word the T isn’t silent. I don’t really know though, not having worked on the mission.
