Shocking! Marathi Speakers Assault Bus Conductor Over Language Issue

बेळगाव तालुक्यातील सण्ण बाळेकुंद्री गावात शुक्रवारी एक धक्कादायक घटना घडली. राज्य परिवहन बसमध्ये कन्नड भाषेत संवाद साधल्याने मराठी भाषिक प्रवाशांनी कंडक्टर महादेव पूजार यांच्यावर हल्ला केला.

मिळालेल्या माहितीनुसार, बसमध्ये एक तरुण आणि तरुणी प्रवास करत होते. सरकारी नियमानुसार महिलांना मोफत प्रवासाची सुविधा आहे. मात्र, संबंधित तरुणीने सोबत असलेल्या तरुणाचाही तिकीट विनामूल्य देण्याची मागणी केली. कंडक्टरने नियमांनुसार तिकीट देण्यास नकार दिला असता, प्रवाशांनी त्यांच्यावर मराठीत बोलण्याचा दबाव आणला. "तुला मराठी येत नाही का?" असे म्हणत त्यांच्यावर हल्ला करण्यात आला.

मारिहाळ पोलिस ठाण्याच्या हद्दीत ही घटना घडली. हल्ल्यामुळे व्यथित झालेल्या कंडक्टर महादेव पूजार यांनी सांगितले की, "बसमध्ये जवळपास २० प्रवासी होते. त्यांनी मला मनसोक्त मारहाण केली. कन्नडमध्ये बोलल्याने माझ्यावर हल्ला करण्यात आला."
A shocking incident occurred on Friday in Sanna Balekundri village of Belagavi taluk, where Marathi-speaking individuals attacked a bus conductor for speaking in Kannada.

The attackers insisted that only Marathi should be spoken on the transport bus and assaulted the conductor, displaying aggression. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Marihal Police Station.

The assaulted conductor, Mahadev Pujar, tearfully recounted the incident, stating, "A boy and a girl were traveling on the bus. As per government rules, girls have free travel privileges. However, they forced me to issue a free ticket for the boy as well. When I refused, they pressured me, saying I don’t know Marathi, and then assaulted me."

He added that there were about 20 passengers on the bus at the time, but the attackers mercilessly beat him. As the bus reached Sanna Balekundri, a group of hundreds of Marathi-speaking youths allegedly attacked him for speaking in Kannada.
