World Youth Skills Day

World Youth Skills Day is Celebrated Every year on July 15.


This Day was established in 2014 by a UN General Assembly resolution.


This Day is celebrated to raise awareness on the importance of youth developing their skills set.


It also creates the opportunity for everyone to discover and develop their hidden talents.


Young people are more likely to be unemployed than adults and are more often made to settle with

low-quality jobs, profession different from their interest, and a lot more.


However, the educational requirements of today’s youth are not being met by existing institutions.


In today’s job markets, higher-level education and suitable training skills are key factors in determining the success and prosperity of young people worldwide.


Youth unemployment is Due to the disconnect between the skills young people have and the skills employers are literally searching for.


The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that 71 million young people are unemployed.

Approximately an additional 156 million youths are employed yet live in poverty.


So this day is believed to promote the significance of technical, vocational education training

and the development of skills that are required for both local and global economy.

Acquiring These skills will reduce unemployment and underemployment among the youth around the globe.



History of World Youth Skills Day

World youth Skills Day was adopted by an agreement on the United Nations General Assembly with a lead by Sri Lanka

to Anounce 15th July as the World Youth Skills Day.

This resolution was passed on 18 December 2014.

Sri Lanka is believed to initiate this resolution with the assistance of the G77 & China.

The resolution was passed to focus on the importance of skill developments in youth at a global level.


How to celebrate World Youth Skills Day?

Seminars Will conducts in Colleges and universities About Awareness of Youth Skills And Importance.

Goverments Campaign Their Schemes,Trainings To Youth to Success in their Careers.

It is necessary that youth develop their skills practically apart from their theoretical lessons that are taught in schools and colleges.
The motto is Skills For Youth Life and Skills For Youth Future
