There's NOTHING more humbling than trying to learn Icelandic (I speak from experience) 🙈
Even though I still don't consider myself fluent, I have learned a thing or two after 8 years of living in Iceland.
So, let's have some fun with a few words you’re likely pronouncing wrong as a tourist 😅
In order from easiest to hardest, here’s the line-up.
1️⃣ Vík - Pronounced: "Veek"
2️⃣ Reykjavík - Pronounced: "Ray-kya-veek" (Roll the 'R'!)
3️⃣ Þingvellir - Pronounced: "Thing-vet-leer" (Soft 'th' as in 'this')
4️⃣ Seljalandsfoss - Pronounced: "Sell-ya-lands-foss" (With a soft ‘J”)
5️⃣ Dyrhólaey - Pronounced: "Deer-ho-la-ay"
TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS…Which one is the biggest tongue twister in your opinion?
