People have fought each other since the beginning of time. And people will continue fighting each other until there's no more people to fight. Humans will continue to bleed. Animals will continue to bleed. And the earth will continue to bleed.
In the midst of the gulf war, in 1991, after being forced into a retreat by US coalition forces, the Iraqi military set fire to roughly 750 oil wells in Kuwait. This decision was meant to give the Iraqi military an advantage in multiple ways, including the black smoke acting as a smoke screen preventing the coalition from utilizing things like airstrikes or satellites. Another motive for lighting the wells was simply out of spite. The Iraqi military was following a tactic known as “scorched earth” where all valuable materials and resources are destroyed before an enemy can make it to that area. Because if you can't have it, no one can.
