Reese, a nine-year-old Jack Russell Pomeranian mix, is a rescue dog turned psychiatric and medical alert service dog. Her work is life-changing. Reese shares a close bond with her human, who described her as being “my lifeline, my entire world…she’s saved me time and time again, figuratively and literally.” But now, Reese is facing an urgent crisis that prevents her ability to provide crucial assistance.

This devoted pup suffers from Bilateral Luxating Patellas in both hind legs, meaning that her kneecaps move agonizingly out of place as she walks. In older dogs with more severe cases, this condition can cause mobility issues and agonizing joint pain. Once arthritis develops, it cannot be reversed.

Now, Reese needs surgery to continue working and going out in public. Her services are essential for her human to function. Reese was thrilled to give her owner a new life and freedom, and we don’t want Reese or the girl she cares for to lose this opportunity. The situation is critical. We need all the help we can get to make this happen.

Reese’s two separate surgeries will have to be performed one by one. Understandably, these procedures aren’t cheap.
