"Will we be safe?" reporter asks Taliban district leader to access remote Afghan village #shorts

Dateline is heading to the remote Afghan village of Darwan, to hear accounts of alleged Australian war crimes in 2012.

Darwan and its surrounding areas were considered too dangerous even for local Afghan journalists to access during Australia’s 20-year military operation against the Taliban.

Now 20 kilometres outside the village our team needs to secure another permission to travel there – this time from the local Taliban district leader.

And our reporter Ben Lewis has an urgent question... ‘Will we be safe?’
