What Is a Blessing? - Pastor Rick’s Daily Hope

The common word for blessing in the Bible in Greek is makarios. Makarios was the same word they used for the island of Cyprus in ancient times because Cyprus was famous for being self-sustaining, in that everything you needed to sustain life was already on the island.  It had all of the needs met there. 

To be blessed—makarios—means that all of your needs are met and sustained.
