This is a parable; a Metaphor.
When I arrived at my friend's house he said, "I need to get a candle cause it stinks in here." He blamed the stink on a potato he had left out overnight. Later that evening my buddy told me we have to keep all the drains plugged because that's where the flies are coming from. I replied "in my experience flies always come from some food source that is sitting, rotting, undiscovered; if the traps in the plumbing are installed correctly, there should be little chance that flies are reproducing in the drains." Before I went to bed, he told me the story of "Lord of the Flies." The next morning I woke up early. The stink was even worse. I knew there must be some rotting food undiscovered. I began to organize, sniffing around, and quickly discovered an aluminum pan with a loose lid underneath some valuable espresso pod shots. It was no-doubt the source of the stink AND the flies!
