The fact that you managed to squeeze in 3 months worth of animation basics training into a 16 minute video is the real magic here.
this is problably the best educational animation channel on YouTube. I love to see a video notification from you guys!
I love that you only go over 4 principles to make it easier to digest. Really well presented video for anyone wanting to understand animation!
I studied animation and no one had EVER mentioned copying and pasting parts directly from the model sheets onto your animation draft to make staying on model easier. This is honestly such a game-changer tutors should be legally obliged to talk about it lol
You do NOT understand how much this helped me, I’ve always wanted to learn but I couldn’t. Now, I can animate anything! Thank you guys so much, I love this channel! 🔥♥️
We waited a year for a new episode because they had to make a few seconds-long loop of a cat dancing. Welcome to animation.
Hot tip: draw the extremes and breakdowns and leave blank frames between them to get a sense of movement. Don’t do the inbetweening. Clean the extremes and breakdowns then do the inbetweening with clean lines. It saves so much time and stops animation from being choppy if you’re not very good at cleaning.
Student animator here and I just want to say how reassuring it is to know that even veteran animators take time with clean ups. I've been feeling crappy about my clean up process cause I felt I was really REALLY slow at it ;-;
Don’t underestimate the value of this, I’ve taken several years of traditional animation classes, and the beginning is practically just this with much more practice and analysis of how to do /this/ better.
One of the only videos on the internet that is entertaining AND teaches you something, without it being boring and confusing
Honestly this gotta be the best art youtube channel. They actually TEACH and break down fundamentals rather than taking the "this is how I do it" approach most use. I've taken a lot of art classes and consumed a lot of content in the form of tutorials and what not, but man these guys are so gifted at simplifying things! Also, uh yeah they're hella funny and cool too
Here's to remembering the first animation class where I created the classic bouncy ball animation and thought, "I'm going to make as many frames as possible to make this as smooth as possible." Pressed play and watched my ball snail down the screen... my professor didn't stop me. He wanted me to learn on my own, and then gave me extra time to complete the assignment, as he clearly predicted the inevitable failure. And gosh, I appreciate it. Learning through misstep keeps the lessons in my brain.
I watched this video for the third time. I was both partially procrastinating and busy for a year. I forced myself to sit down today and Im really making a breakthrough with my animation skills. Thank you so much!
When I was 9 I was OBSESSED with animations, and I tried it myself, I needed up stopping due to personal problems but I’ve always wanted to go back. Seeing this video made me realize how advanced I was! Lots of this was things I learned by rewatching over and over some of my favorite animations and trying it over and over by simplifying it. Yeah they were still HORRIBLE but I knew what I needed my characters to do. Now knowing that I was on the right track im SO ready to jump back in but actually training myself better.
This is perfect timing. I'm actually trying to create my first animation :D It's 20 seconds long, and it's a glorified lip-sync/emotion/body language test, all in a single shot, but I want to finish it!

Tracing the character sheet is such a useful tip that I've never thought of before! But it's so useful to keep the forms consistent!!! Great video!
so good!!! i learned so much!!!
9:43 this is VERY handy to know. I never thought of tracing the character sheet for parts of the character.
