I needed to hear this. Thanks.
Thank you for the tips 👍
I love love this!!
I love your videos; I had stroke 18 years ago and have back slid dealing with spasticity now, I have to back at it.
Thank you so much Dr Tara Tobias for this superb video And a reminder for me what I miss in my daily routine
A completely logical way of thinking under normal conditions, but when I only have 2 sessions a year with my PT due to overbooking, I have to solve the problem myself. I have to divide the functional goal into the necessary structural ones and first become good enough at them, and then connect that into a functional, or life goal. That's why I really like your approach with a detailed explanation of why and how to do and demonstrate the exercise. Thank you, have a nice week.
Recovering is so hard😢
Life can be hard but so can we
I’m feeling frustrated right now. I know I think differently and I taken information differently. I feel like I’m on a third grade level on comprehension. My adult son just confirmed that. He yelled to me, “What idiot you are! Why can’t you GD F****ing follow what I’m saying!“ That put me into tears immediately, and I asked him “how do you think I feel about that?” I don’t like having the comprehension of aa 3rd grader. I sobbed all night. Those words hurt me to the core.
Great clip (weeds & video)! As a weedy survivor that wishes to walk braced with confidence I have had to have this self-talk. What do I want? The talk has taken me back, back to basics—weight shift! Daily repetitions. Because I am stronger, the leg is more attentive I can focus for short walking distances shifting weight, allowing the leg to know it bears full weight. Game changer? 😂 Continuation 😊
You have to have the mindset that It's a marathon, not a race. Everyone has a different recovery road and everyone may be at different stages. Try not to compare yourself to others. Set goals, you will have many frustrating days, this isn't easy, but keep trying and never give up. In the mist of ll of this, you still have to find something to do, whether it's reading, going to a barbershop, movie theater, mall, etc. having fun can help shape a more positive attitude. Recovery is mental also, not just physical. Once I started leaving the house, my attitude became more positive, then I got a personal trainer and can now do things, I never thought I could do again. It's slow but it's worth it. Recovery will be forever ongoing, it doesn't stop. We learn new things everyday, even before the stroke.

Dr. Tobias you might consider to transform English speaking to Mandarin with AI . By doing so, you will benefit a huge amount of Chinese stroke survivors and expand the number of your audience.
