I wish all Shorts were this to the point and information rich.

๐Ÿคญ The age of Lunar bombardment of Earth with "resources"

@doltsbane

I've heard discussions of using magnetic cleaning systems to remove dust from EVA suits and equipment after working outside on the Moon, wouldn't the coils of one of these mass drivers get gunked up with any dust that's been kicked up by industrial activity? Cleaning miles of them regularly would be a headache unless you've got robots to handle the job. Induced currents from solar flares and CMEs could be a problem too. Nothing insurmountable, but things to be aware of.

@ilkoderez601

Great short! So many people don't understand that the material for building space based infrastructure is going to come from the Moon, not Earth... Sabine just did a Solar Power Station video and in it, she states that launching the material from Earth makes Solar power station impractical. I just about lost my shit dude.

@skipperofschool8325

Finally someone who makes captions readable

thank you โค

@Pooua

Space elevators would be preferable to launchers, because space elevators can raise or lower payloads to or from the surface, but launchers work only one way.

@ct-hv1uz

Why not make a mass driver that doesnt need active powering, using a giant rubber band to store the energy and a magnetized basket, you'd have a slingshot that only needs to be mechanically released during an electric systems failure.

@SoraNezumi

I read the title as "Lunar Residence Launcher" ... Click the link thinking, How the hell is that going to work!?

@hilarybrown2271

You could do this on a ice moon then shoot ice to a hot world to cool it down for later manned missions

@cosmictreason2242

1 million people on the moon, Mars, or the belt -- which one do you think happens first?

@brianjohnson5272

My thinking was to gather resources at legrange points before we start resource mining on the moon.

@firstcynic92

It also makes a handy orbital bombardedment facility.

@Spoofff

Idk man, being sent straight into the moon at Mach 10 doesnt seem very fun to me ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@Guรฐmundur4369

This is one of the most important things we humans can construct in this century, in my opinion. โค๐ŸŽ‰ Solar power mirrors and shades to "better"๐Ÿ˜… manually control our climate. That and everyone getting plenty of clean water and energy and healthcare and safety and cleaning up the oceans and making a global government system that is functional and common sense. โค๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜Š
