I own the r6 for travel doc videos, have it since it got released, 90% video 10% stills, and I don’t baby my camera at all, has been a workhorse, I encountered the overheating issue in Southeast Asia under hot weather, for interviews wouldn’t relay unless you put a fan which is the best option (I haven’t tried yet), I had this issue in 2 very important moments, once in Philippines, the other in Korea, however after I got the latest update was better, i guess for it’s price nowadays it’s worth it, somehow the image quality is exceptional, specially clog3 cinema gamut! I’m not planing to change my camera anytime soon, planing to get the 24-105 2.8 (now using the EF 24-105 f4 first version) if you get this camera you will have amazing professional results, if you are planing to get this camera always hear from the people who really use it!

What a lot of crap ! I've been photographing digitally for nearly 20 years, owned the 500D (rebel), 6D, all of the 5D and 1D-series but the R6 is the best in my opinion. I don't see why I should buy a new camera every year when a new one is released.

Hi. Would using the R6 as a type of web cam be fine and not cause it to overheat? The camera wouldn't actually be recording as such because it would be recorded elsewhere. Nothing would go onto the memory card but the camera would need to be 'on' for several hours at a time. If it's not suitable, could you recommend something else in a similar price range that isn't known to overheat please? R5 maybe? Thanks for your time.

I had an r8 and had that thing overheat in stills mode in an indoor event. I returned it and got another and did the same thing. So i searched around for an R6 at a good price and found one for $1500, never been happier.

I have the R6. I don’t do video, only stills photography. It is perfect for that. Beautiful sensor, amazing AF. I probably won’t look to get another camera until the R5 Mk III.

great video and review. as you mentioned at the end, i only shoot photos but was eyeing when the r5 mk2 comes out if that's even necessary, the more research i do the more it looks like i can save my money. thanks so much for this!

If you’re having trouble with video, why not get a Atomos Ninja and SSD? That solves the record limit and you can record in whatever codec you want.

I'm having exactly the same problems with my R6. I just started a youtube channel and I can't tell you how many times I already had to restart recording because of overheating issues or 30 minutes block. I think I will hold on though and wait until the R5 mark II comes out and see how that looks like or I will bypass the 30 min block with the ninja atmos V+. Thanks for the focusing issue, had the same, and it's now gone.

I still have that, i was going to buy R5 but i got impatient saving. But i have no regrets because so many website dont let you use full 8k uploads anyway and when i really need to upgrade I am sure it will last me until that day, prob 2 more years before online switches to 8k. Omgosh thanks for the focus tip, I am going to change that setting now because i have a shoot tomorrow and i noticed that this morning when i was doing test shots.
