Worked for a company for 9 years, i was very good at my job, which actually made it harder to get promoted oddly enough. When i put my two weeks in, all of a sudden, they had an offer i couldn't refuse. 50 hour a week minimum with mandatory non paid OT on top, salary exempt, 55k a year. It was a management role in name only. No say in my schedule or the store i worked in, the majority of the responbilites were manual labor with a few hours of office work but not enough to justify the manager title, and technically i would "manage" only 1 employee. Told them I'd take it at 40 hours a week, they turned me down, and i laughed all the way to my new hybrid office job with significantly better benefits and the same hourly rate as the manual labor title i previously held.
