As a writer working in the Hindi film industry, I don't know if I should laugh or cry when I hear them all talk about having better pay structures and investing in writers, as the whole foundation starts with them. The reason: the last two paychecks I have gotten for working on scripts/pitches over several months are for INR 34,000 and 22,500 after TDS deductions. I am not a newbie. I have some experience and even do have working credits. These payments came for working on projects from Tier 2 production houses, where the monthly office rents are in several lacs. In the last five years, 6–8 projects I have worked on have been canned largely without pay, where the cumulative work amounts to 20–22 months. You can do that math now. Lastly, it's not just my story. I know dozens of writers whose lives are no different than this. So I will wait for the next roundtable discussion to feel the vicarious high most of us feel about things that have little to do with our realities.
Pratik Gandhi was so articulate with his thoughts, so fresh. Kudos to him!
Good to see Kani, Anna and Pratik. The conversation looks real and honest.
For the first time, I loved the actor lineup in a roundtable where no one was delusional about their performance or box office results.
Anna Ben is pure magic on screen!✨ Loved her performances in Kumbalangi Nights , Helen , Kappela , Sara's , Kalki 2898 AD & Koottukkali —such raw talent and grace! Keep shining, Anna! 💫
Not to compare people, but Anna Ben is proof that there are young, talented, smart thinking actors actually out there. Can't help but admire her intelligence and eloquence compared to what Bollywood has been dishing up in abundance.
Its a straight table. Not liking this clickbait
It's so refreshing to hear Pratik Gandhi talk about theater and how he's doing that alongside acting in films. As someone from theater myself, it made me happy❤❤
Anna Ben is so articulate and well spoken , so deeply involved with the craft, proud of you as a malayali!!
There's an authenticity to Vicky that's very impressive and endearing. Hope he always stays this way. And Anupama is a great interviewer. Very natural yet intelligent. Without the silly sensationalism that one sees nowadays
Kani is just amazing. What a great human being she is. So honest, not afraid of being vulnerable, says whatever she truly feels. I have never seen her work, TBH didn’t even know about her, but I am a huge fan now. Loved Raj’s humour, that chin botox has definitely done the magic. Vicky Kaushal is a genius disguised as a Punjabi munda. Every single word he utters is a lesson and the whole table nodded whenever he spoke. Anna’s amazing too.
It's great you brought Kani kusurati here. All we imagine as light deserve all the love and praise for first time winning grand Prix at Cannes.
Pratik articulated himself so well, was so lovely to listen to him on this roundtable❤
When Shabana was speaking how beautifully everyone is listening and Pratik and Rajkumar 's reaction on touba touba initially was too good 😂❤
Love that Kani has a scrunchie on her hand
Prateek is so articulate, loved hearing him talk about his craft. I hope to see him in a lot of more films and I hope I get to catch him live at one of his plays too.
Pratik Gandhi has nailed this interview. Imagine being so impressive and intellectually succinct that OG Shabana Azmi is impressed and constantly listening to you with admiration. Anna and Kani were brilliant. Vicky felt bit withdrawn (he’s great otherwise too). Kareena is now a better listener and more humble (thank God!). Rajkumar Rao was tad bit over-confident but still sweet. Overall, a worthwhile watch :)
Oh wow. Kani Kusruti looks so fab here.
Pratik Gandhi spoke his thoughts so clearly with sheer knowledge. Kudos to your craft and Best wishes for future projects.
