TikTok trying to diversify their portfolio.
this has the look and feel of jetbrains based IDEs
I have to imagine that on one of those world event betting sites, "Tiktok makes a good IDE" had something like 1 to 10 million odds and someone just became bloody rich off a 23 cent wager.
Cursor really needs to hire a designer
So we go from attempting to hack companies from the outside to letting AI insert the backdoor right into the code? That's efficiency alright 🙊
Suddenly, unfinished unlaunced western apps start coming out fully featured in China....
I mean when you think about it is it really that surprising? Considering Bytedance is a Multi Billion dollar Multi National Entity with nearly 150k+ employees. Tiktok isnt even all that they do, they've got a pretty diverse portfolio and I can only imagine the amount of money a tool like this would save them in the long run considering that an average developer in Bytedance is now essentially a 10x developer and actually good programmers are even better, they save money by lowering labor hours and probably laying off a bunch of entry level devs once they have something mature. Unexpected? Yes, surprising? hardly
TLDR: VSCode clone + Jetbrains UI + AI
We used to only get new JavaScript frameworks each day. Now we get code editors as well!
NGL the UI is insanely GOOD.
this was NOT on my bingo card
Get ready to lose your IP directly from the place where you develop it.
I didn't expect the T3 chat clone to work. For one of my personal project, I made an image of what the UI would look like and then spent over a day building it. I would've saved so much time on the mocking part...
I hope there will be a possibility to scroll through tiktok in a vertical split during work 😂
If cursor takes a little bit inspiration from fleet like tray , it would be great

I've use TRAE for my project. they display the names of models like Claude and ChatGPT, but in reality, they seem to be using other free or less advanced models behind the scenes.
