There was a very tragic sequel to this game which, as an eleven year-old kid at the time, I can just remember. The Tudor aircraft carrying Welsh supporters back after the game crashed at
Llandow Airport outside Cardiff. About 80 passengers were killed. Having gone to work at the Canadian National Aerospace Establishment, Ottawa, in 1965, I worked with an Englishman
who'd been one of the accident investigation team. Sad memories of a Triple Crown triumph.
And something you wouldn't see today: the Irish scrum half picking the ball up off the pitch and tossing it to Rex Willis, his opposite number as a courtesy.

Excellent footage as to how it once was, but still is in many respects. People dressed up for games, the players kit then was impeccable. Yet as now, traffic jams and public transport taking tens of thousands to the match. Ticket prices: that's another issue.

Ire 3 - Wal 6 in Ravers.
Jambags jambagged their way to yet another GS in 1950. Looking at the final table Wales only cocceded 8 pts in the 5N.
Good defence.

@TheLastAngryMan01

Funny to see the British flag being used to represent Wales, as it was for Scotland in an earlier video. When did they get their own flags?

@ian38018a

Back in the day, low scoring matches like this were the norm.

The Apartheid regime in the 6 counties was in full flow in the 1950s. The rugger crowd north and south were not impacted by this at all but a lot of ordinary nationalist people were. Good riddance to those days.

@JJONNYREPP

Ireland Vs Wales Five Nations Rugby, Ravenhill, Belfast 1950 0849am 23.2.25 comparing with yesterday's game which was ok... a close match... as was england's fine win over eccose. is this the cortege for the death or eire's rugby... as was?

@ldfreitas9437

Interesting that Ireland players still wore their club or rep side socks, and their numbers go 1-15, 15 being full back, while Wales has gotten rid of letters for numbers that go 15-1 in reverse order, 1 being fullback.
