Start with consistency. Intensity and optimization will follow, if only to break up the monotony of the routine. Commit to never taking steps backwards. Listen to your body and allow yourself low intensity days to manage burnout. It’s like walking across the country; no step needs to be extraordinary, no need to sprint, just take manageable steps forward consistently with no steps back for a really, really, really long time and you will get there, guaranteed.
Training intensity is the thing that seems to be lacking most often.
I am 75 and have been working out for 61 years. Everything you say is exactly on point. Excellent presentation. Consistency is the key just make sure to be consistent about the right things.
No Pain, No Gain - one of the most true fitness advice have ever heard.
I love that your videos focus of the psychological and philosophical side of lifting. Almost no one else talks about this stuff and it's so important!
Very good advice and I find this relatable to myself. This is exactly what I did to lose 54 pounds in a year. I was 92.50kg - now I'm currently sitting at 68.10kg
I get so much out of your channel - just valuable info each video - nothing flashy, no bs.
I am a 39 year old newbie that has been working out for 6 months and I would say that I have surpassed 90% of people in the gym and probably 100% of other newbies. I started at 23% body fat. I am down to 14.5%. I am 6'3", 217lbs, I do light cardio (30-40 minute incline walk) 5-6 times a week and generally try to spend another hour walking in the city or throughout stores/mall. I focus on progressive overload. I stay away from exercises that I do not understand or cannot do with good form. My BMR is 2,100 kcals. I usually eat between 2,000-2,500 calories a day, 150 grams of protein. I try to burn 500-600 calories a day in the gym and a little more through NEAT. I do not eat a ton of candy or ice cream. I used to drink a ton of Coke, I stopped drinking sugary pops in general.I was never a big fan of cookies and pastries so not eating those was not a problem. I also stopped drinking alcohol. With dedication, it is possible to get pretty ripped pretty quick. My before/after photos are night and day in 6 months.
consistency and a change in lifestyle is key
Progress is just so painstakingly slow its hard to tell whats working sometimes. I like what you said about Massive Amounts of patience for that reason.
Been listening to your channel and Sean Nalejwanyj for the last few months and applying the thought process and putting in the work as I've been struggling to get to the last bit of push to get to the physique I want, and voila... I am sooo happy with how my muscles are on point with the ABS to show. True Story. I'm glad chose to listen to the right people in the industry. Also, I feel like I can actually maintain this for the long haul. Been around 15% for a few years every time I cut but now, obviously less than that with the right amount of muscle. Thank you so much. People need your channels.
Mario, I’m down 25 pounds, below 200 pounds for the first time in 20 years. My journey was to take about 4 months to one by one make the lifestyle changes BEFORE I started calorie deficit- intermittent fasting, the all natural, the planned meals, then, 3 times a week lifting, once a week with a trainer, then steps, then thinking of myself as that active guy.. a couple weeks to make each change. I took one additional change (eating slower, planning meals) again adding in slow. Your psychological tips are golden, staying on it, being aware of what is going in, and making small changes. The next 20 pounds I may have to do start more tracking for the next phase, but so far all I’ve done is daily scale. I gave planned my meals such that I don’t have to actually count to much. I just measure cups or precaclculated food to get my 2000 cal a day. Added one keto day a week. It’s amazibg how few times I’ve battled hunger and house easy it has been. A weakness I’m working on is over eating at parties. One thing at a time. You have guided me every step. Thanks. Once I get down to 180 pounds, i may consider a deeper cut or work on muscle building.
Watching these videos actually helps and I'm not even kidding, it helps me personally keep my motivation. I see results, my abs starting to form and I'm so damn happy about it all. Thanks, Mario!
I started my journey 5 and a half weeks ago got way out of line in my life when it came to health. Now im getting back on track. Mario you have been a huge help on getting the proper information out there and helping me remeber how to get back into shape because there is so much I forgot and you have helped me to remember. Keep it up I love your videos on how honest and right they are.
just wanted to say thank you for your videos. was in a rough spot and watched these videos non stop to stay motivated. Lost 64 lbs. thanks for what you do.
Always, and no exaggeration, you are spot on. I can relate to this even though I made my progress. Keeps me motivated and on my toes to not slacking… the sleep, must be the most underrated thing, and also maybe the hardest to adapt to. Keep it up, thank you for great content and the honest approach to everything
Very good advice. Thank you for being honest. I think the older one gets the more important it is to track calories, macros and training routines.
I was coached in 4 months and did dieting and only working out 4 times a week and made pretty big gains. After that i fell off and spiraled out of control, i lost 9 kilos of fat during coaching and gained 6 of them again. This made me realised 2 things: food is 70-80% of the work. And that i need some rules set for myself, i need structure or i lose motivation.. i just started this week again with proper food, doing 2700 kcal a day , 200g of protein a day. I already feel so much better !
I just hit the like button and I can already feel the gains.
