It's very beautiful thou. The size of the single camera looks perfect on that phone.
It’s a workhorse, keep away if you need the status of a Pro. Here’s the day average for me, I put my 16 Pro in the draw and this is the 16e today: 4 hours of cellular calls, 2.5 hours VOIP, 20 mins Socials, document scans, 30 mins navigation, 22 emails sent, it’s now 7:45 pm it was taken off charge at 5am it has 40% battery left, isn’t this ProMax performance. It’s not the best, but it’s great.
For me coming from the SE 3rd gen 64gb it’s a HUGE upgrade. I only upgraded my SE due to storage I’ve had it for over a year and loved how small it is. Now with the new 16e the 6.1 oled screen is so much better then the 4.7 lcd. I don’t mind the older iPhone notch cause the SE had huge border bezels at the top and bottom, I also don’t mind it not having MagSafe as my SE didn’t either. I am very happy with my new iPhone it’s AMAZING especially the longer battery life too. My only complaint is that it didn’t come in “product red” like my SE or other colors.
Thank you TechRadar. This is the most balanced review I’ve seen on the features of this device.
I think it must be the latest processor, which also means it will still gets updates as long as the 16, which, those two things, at least puts it above Android devices around this price.
I wish they offered this with the 5 core GPU
It doesn't stretch the definition of budget, it's not budget at all. Apple killed that with the SE. If this were a hundred dollars cheaper like where it SHOULD be priced at, we'd be having a different conversation.
Nice job but you missed to say that the screen doesn't get as bright as the regular 16 so yeah it's a nice screen compared to the SE but when you compare it to the iPhone 16 it's not nearly as bright outside which is a problem depending on where you live.
I wonder if when they release the iPhone 17, if they actually do reduce it to $499. and then next spring they will release a 17e, at $599, while keeping the 16e for sale.
Like the iPad 10, the price might come down later...funny, the rebate for turning in an old SE3 brings it down to the same price as the SE3.
I miss the older notch, I get the hype around dynamic Island but I don't necessarily use it for anything outside of the pleasing visual aesthetics. Outside of that I miss the old notch for full screen video, the island looks like a black spot and I can't take my eyes off it 😅
It's not budget, it's entry level.
Since 2020, MagSafe and the ultrawide camera have been absolutely iconic to the iPhone. The 16e sticks out like a sore thumb. To save $200 over the 16, the 16e gives up way too much. At $599, there are much better Android alternatives. And if you don't mind buying refurbished, there's the 15 Pro. I would even recommend the iPhone 15 for $100 more. Apple Intelligence is a half-baked mess. It makes many mistakes and is not particularly reliable. No one should buy an iPhone for the promise of Apple Intelligence. Who is the 16e for??? People who don't appreciate Apple's ecosystem? If they just want a basic device, there are better options.
Marketed for: People that want to upgrade from older iphone before iphone 12 including the SE's that still have touch ID Getting Ridiculed by: Majority of the people that already using iphones that have magsafe, dynamic island, and dual/triple/quadruple camera lens
I have it its an amazing phone big battery devent screen cameras good
I'm betting this phone will be as successful with buyers as it is unpopular with reviewers.
Apple discontinued the cheap SE models. The 16e is a new, cheaper iPhone 16 model. It is a massive upgrade from the SE models. The 16e only has the essentials. It does not have features that most people never use anyway. The reviewer obviously misses the dynamic island. Most people who buy this phone will not know what a dynamic island is.😄
