"Burning Bright" was an episode similar to "The Pioneers," both aired in 1974. Each episode featured an astronaut affected by some force out in space (an electrical field which supercharged Josh's mind, and a serum which transformed Mike Farrell, who portrayed David Tate, into a superhuman maniac). William Shatner was great in this episode, a fellow astronaut and close friend of Steve who realized the danger he posed to himself and others, but unable to control his psionic powers, eventually leading to a deadly showdown between Josh and Steve Austin.
