I think the reason this is a more depressing version of Jevils theme, is because while Jevil was under the impression that he had gained his freedom within his cage, Spamton had full knowledge of his own powerlessness, and sought to change his fate and make himself free at any cost. I can’t imagine being in the mental position Spamton must have been in for so long, knowing you have no influence over yourself and having no power to stop it. It’s no wonder he ended up losing it…
The more "Free" People Kris meet, the more it seems to mess them up. Like on some level Kris relates to them. like how they feel they lack control in their life. Spamton ends up feeling like a very personal character.
His shop was the most unnerving part of the game. Empty, desolate, creepy, just you and him staring right into YOUR soul, as if Kris isn't even there. His eyes look as though they're rolling at the back of his head, as if he's not even there anymore. His words, seemingly nonsensical. Amidst his nonsense, he stops and begs for help as this creepy theme plays in the background on repeat... No moment in Undertale has made me feel this uncomfortable. I think Deltarune is beating UT in terms of eerie implications and subtle horror, even though UT was already magnificent in that aspect.
“Oh hey, this mini boss is funny, he’s like a spam email if it were a person” 1 Deltarune Later “😟”
Jevil and spamtom are two different types of tragic, jevil is trapped but believes he’s still free, that everyone else is trapped and that he’s all powerfull, spamton knows he’s trapped and tries so hard to be free, but in the end he has to accept he’s just a puppet and makes himself useful to the only people who can be actually free
When this happened, I was shocked. The absolute sincerity that he gave off here shook me to my core. I don't think I'll forget that.
This song everytime I go into his shop unnerves me, especially when talking to him and having someone say "Please help me" It's horrifying. I feel awful for Spamton so much yet I wish I knew more about him and who Mike is
GOD the symbolism of a phone forever ringing unanswered is just amazing
Difference between Jevil and Spamton is that Jevil is a complete lunatic who's too far gone, while Spamton's a desperate guy on the brink of insanity.
My game actually crashed during the "transfer." An update fixed it, but really, what did I expect interacting with this guy?
"Dialtone" Perfect name of a song for this extremely depressing story of Spamton G. Spamton... I hate the fact that all those store clerks came together to visit him at the end. Only to just miss the call, right before his complete demise....
* It seems after all I couldn't be anything more than a simple puppet. * But you three... You're strong. * With a power like that... * Maybe you three can break your own strings. * Let me become your strength.
the fact that this plays in the shop and that you can hear him speaking for a second even in the closed shop even when hes gone is so weird, genuine creepypasta shit
The way that Spamton NEO's body just sits there for a moment if you manage to cut all of his strings chilled me. I personally was expecting something nice to happen after we cut his strings, like Spamton would revert to who he was before or something, but no. The background cuts to black and his lifeless body hits the floor. Spamton couldn't break his own strings, which I found really ominous in terms of Kris. Without their SOUL, *without their strings*, they kind of just... limp around. In the times of the game where they remove their SOUL from their body, they're barely able to move anywhere normally, looking like they're in pain, looking like it's a struggle to even move around; Almost as if they need us, the SOUL. Why else would the soul be right back in Kris' body after the ending of Chapter 1? Why else would they stuff it back into their body in Chapter 2 several times? How chilled Kris seems after defeating Spamton NEO really seems to hit this in on the nail, as they're obviously shaken up by Spamton's words. What will happen if Kris manages to successfully cut their strings? A puppet without strings is a puppet without purpose.
"[Heaven], are you WATCHING?" shook me to my core.
Jevil's nokia ringtone
god damn it dude. This song feels like watching a loved one break down crying in front of you and not knowing how to comfort them. Spamton as a character makes me deeply uncomfortable and I love him for that very reason. He's like Jevil but better. I hope the other Shadow Crystal bosses are this moving.
Equipping the Frayed Bowtie and the Dealmaker just in honor of the real one.
Jevil is the chaotic, funny, weird person we all wanna be And Spamton seems to embody the feeling we get when we fail and fail and fail and fail. That overwhelming despair. The overwhelming loss. The overwhelming emotions whirling around you. Everything spinning and spinning, but you're calm. Too calm. That delicious despair.
