It is really difficult to find love for yourself when you don’t know what to compare to I guess. We forget that someone else telling you they love you really says more about them than it does about you, in the same way that it would if they said they hated you. Humans are so social and we just wanna make connections to feel complete, but how can we if we don’t know what half our metaphorical “face” looks like? Maybe that makes sense

My Interpretation is that the guy can’t know what love really is because he does not love himself, what is hard to archive because there’s nothing to compare with. So how do you know when you love yourself? He says that he could start love himself and then he don’t need to be loved by someone else. But If he would be ok with himself he would see that other people start loving him, too.
