@djmattblack

I was reading that when Slot was at Feyenoord he had a 90% fitness rate and thats one of the reasons Liverpool went for him, hes definitely handled his injuries better than some of the other clubs have

@BobIn-q9w

I'm a villa fan so as mutual in the title races over recent years I think Liverpool have have been consistently good since around 2018, they had a wobble in 22/23 season when they still finished top 5, but that was down to big injuries and off the back of a cup double and a 90+ point season the one before. Apart from that, they have been at a consistently high standard along with man city. This season will man city's wobble. There a great team and deserve all the glory they get. Klopp has built a great squad there and slot seems to be getting even more out of them. Going off last seasons average points per game man city would be on around 64 points now without the wobble so Liverpool still at the top. Didn't need to cook the books or spend a billion either to get there unlike cheque book Guardiola and man city.

@InkyBizzo

Liverpool have also had injuries to some big players but we managed to deal with it better; Alisson was out for a bit, Ibou Konate, Trent, Connor Bradley, Joe Gomez and Jota have all had some considerable time off. Gakpo was also out albeit for a short period of time.

@cm5985

Liverpool have lost one game all season. Give them the credit due.

@NatalieLawrence

I’m glad Lineker and Shearer gave credit to Liverpool for the work they’ve done this season.

Liverpool did not use injuries as an excuse last season. This time last year, we had 10 players out, including Szobo and Salah, plus Caicedo injured Gravenberch in the Carabao Cup final. Despite that, they won the trophy and were top of the league at the time.

Liverpool is not responsible for Manchester City’s failure to rejuvenate their squad. They didn’t force City to re-sign Gundogan.

Liverpool is not responsible for Arsenal failing to sign a striker for a 2nd season in a row. They did not force Arsenal to sign Sterling on loan. They didn’t force Arsenal to run Saka and Havertz into the ground and only use academy players until it was too late.

It’s almost as if people just want to make excuses because it’s Liverpool.

@Yiyi4Real

People forgetting that Arsenal were still 9 points behind LFC after 13 games before all their injuries. Give LFC the credit

@theblahofblah1681

FSG are not poor by any stretch but they aren't an Oil Nation State either. I have to give them plaudits for their overall running of Liverpool. They aren't perfect, I would be scared if they were.

They have improved the team scouting, brought in great players as well as decent back-up players, improved the training facilities, built a new stand, got Klopp in, good with their media, have good connections for sponsorship deals. Then to identify Slot and get him in has been another masterstroke.

Another era and Liverpool would have a few more PLs and perhaps another CL trophy. Yet, Man City had Pep and their billions - and some of the City/Pool Klopp/Pep matches have been some the best games I have seen in my 30 years.

@alastairdunn4452

We've lost one game all season in the league and could still finish with 97 points. That's a league-winning season, regardless of what other teams are doing.

@ComradeOgilvy1984

Overall, this is the most competitive EPL we have seen in years. Look at the table! There are 10 teams in the fight for top 4 at the beginning of March.

It so happens that Slot's tactics work extremely well against teams that high press or mid press. It so happens that Slot's tactics work extremely well against attacking teams. This season there were 10-12 teams that have been playing with ambition, and they attack and press like they mean it, and they fight for 3 points every game. Slot's Liverpool has taken most of them apart, and made it look easy. That was not a fluke. That was Slot. Arteta's and Guardiola's tactics just do not work as well this season -- even when those clubs were not weighed down by injuries they were getting lesser results. That was not a fluke then, and it is not a fluke now.

And to underline my point about Slot's tactics being well-tuned for beating attacking teams this season, keep in mind the ONLY top half of the table team that played with Plan A of a low block has been Nottingham Forrest. Coincidence? Nope.

It turns out that Liverpool did not struggle against the league because Slot lacks EPL experience. Rather the league struggled against Liverpool because the EPL lacks Slot experience.

@gman6480

liverpool have lost konate, jota, allison, jones, elliot, gakpo to injuries. although not season ending some were not available for a cpuple of months. Slot has managed it well.

@gibbsey2000

That part from Gary about being marked just shows the levels of how a proper striker thinks, space, awareness, everything

@dommccabe17

The injury narrative is just wrong. They have had injuries to big players. Allison, Jota, Konate, Trent etc. Credit to Slot for managing them well.

@Osmosis909

Why is there a CONSTANT agenda against Liverpool being successful? Last time we won the league,you put an * against it, it was because of Covid. Now when we are top of the league, it’s weak opposition. What is it about the club, that makes it so hard to accept they have simply been consistently better than everyone else this season? Why the constant agenda against them being successful? Why don’t you praise the manager, the team and accept some of the facts.

We’ve had a new manager come in, complete overhaul of the backroom staff, we don’t money to spend, we have an ageing squad and three of our best players are essentially out of contract and possibly (likely with TAA) leaving in the summer. We have had injuries to key players, like every other team, it’s been managed. Just give the team the credit!

@tecksengyeo6432

Love the Des Walker story! I can hear that again and again

@NoShirtMan

I think Gary was spot on saying that Liverpool would’ve still won the title even if the competition didn’t have injuries. I think the impact of injuries for other teams like City has shown up in the games that you’d normally expect them to win.

@williamraymond8378

When Arsenal had all their players and Liverpool had had Alisson, Diogo Jota and Ibou Konate out for months Liverpool were 9 points clear. But yeah man the injuries are the only reason they're top.

@mabslfc

Liverppol have had some big injuries- i.e. Alisson and Trent. The difference is the quality backups and tactical management which meant the impact wasn't seen.

@anonp8

5:11 stop helping and pushing the narrative Liverpool have had no big injuries when we blatantly have, Alisson, Trent, Konate, Robbo, Jota, Jones all been out for notable periods to name a few

@Iceman8888-l9v

Under Klopp… midfield was purely functional and high octane. Now it’s the key engine protecting the backline as well as directing the attack.

@chrismiller6317

I’m a Gooner Liverpool been absolutely first class this season,so lets cut the crap about a weak challenge and by the way that is only being said because it was Arsenal,they were the only ones again attempting to reel them in,listened to that prat O’Hara on Talks💩ite saying Arsenal’s challenge was feeble he has some F💥CKING front and that coming from a TOTTENHAM SPURSY fan CLASSIC🤡
