“I will guide you now and then leave!” Mam, thats not a threat, thats LITERALLY your jobs description. Give the tour, show the places and LEAVE. You were hired to say some things about the places we go through and thats it. I haven’t been on many tours, but i was in South America for tours and the tour guide was always nice, jolly and totally chill. We had one day where there was some delay, so it was late and he let us decide if we wanted to continue to the last stop or go home with no pressure or complaints. Would recommend him to anyone because of how nice and respectful he was. Same with our guide in Italy, very fun, gave free time after tours to walk around and take a look, never forced anyone to enter a souvenir store or anything.

That also happens with tours all over the world but at least they don't usually force them to buy something. But they all have tourist traps.

I love Hainan, but I always travel independently, mostly stay away from tourist sites, then stick with ride hailing, public transport, and fixed price set meals online.
