Heartstopper, but ALSO just all of Alice Oseman’s books tbh
He summoned the entire heart stopper fandom with this one
Carry On is my favorite queer book/ book series. Would definitely recommend it, especially if you like fantasy.
i would strongly recommend ‘most ardently’ (i’ve forgotten author’s name i’m so sorry😭😭). it’s pride and prejudice retelling with ftm trans main character and with gay mr darcy!!! it’s so sweet and this book brings me so much joy 🤍
I recommend 'hell followed with us' by Andrew Joseph White. Gets the queer experience right with a lot of rage for the angy queers, and it's treated so normally while also completely covering what it means to be a social outcast, definitely some form of religious trauma, a wonderful world that's super traumatic too and with very interesting lore told through subtext. It's not for the squeamish though since it goes hard into gore but if you can stomach it, it's worth your time
“They Both Die at the End” is sooo good, oh my god. I finished it in four hours I got so addicted, and it’s so sad but so worth it. Definitely check it out if you want to see two boys literally living their last day together (not spoilers I promise)
i cant recommend loveless by alice oseman enough
“The sun and the star” is an amazing one too! It’s by Rick riodrian
i recommend ‘last night at the telegraph club’ by malinda lo! whenever anyone asks me about queer romances that’s the first thing that comes to my mind. it’s an amazing historical fiction and sapphic romance
The sunbearer trials is an absolute delight
I started reading a lot of queer books last year, these are my recommendations (basically all queer and fantasy); The Sunbearer Trails by Aiden Thomas (queer Hunger Games meets Percy Jackson? The second book will come out soon), Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas (it's one of my favorite books at the moment), The House in the Cerulean Sea, by T.J. KLune (I had to get into it, but now love it. I also love the found family vibes), So This is Ever After, by F.T. Lukens (knight fantasy, it's my favorite book when I have nothing read and I want to read something light), Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire (I've only read the first book, so can't speak for the rest. Basically what if you found your magic place, but had to go back to irl and want to find a way back because duh. It is more dark fantasy/gothic/horror, so it's not for everyone). And a couple of comics I got; Heavy Vinyl by Usdin Vakueva (recordstore employees kicking ass), The Tea Dragon Society (lots of cozy vibes), The Girl from the Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag (summer vibes), The Deep Dark by Molly Knox Ostertag (does delve into (generational) trauma and living with hiding a secret), Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker (cozy fall vibes with queer witches), and technically it's not queer but it feels very queer is the Witch Boy triology by Molly Know Ostertag (plus it also has cozy fall vibes).
Heartstopper!! yes!! It's also becoming a series on Netflix for anyone interested in that too. Im currently on book 4 :)) SO good!!
Really wish I could read these!! My parents took away some books of mine that I bought with queer love in them... And since everyone's leaving other recommendations, I would like to add They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera, I listened to the audiobook and it broke my little heart, a wonderful book :')
they both die at the end actually KILLED me, its an amazing, queer book, and its also so sad, i highly recommend reading it
Sunbearer Trials and Cemetery Boys, both by Aiden Thomas with transmasc, gay, latino protags, very easy to read and just generally a blast
I HIGLY recommend The Black Flamingo, it had me hooked the entire way through and it was such a comfort at the time ❤️❤️
Any of F.T. Lukens books!! If you’re into fantasy, that is. I started with In Deeper Waters, but I also LOVED Spell Bound & So This is Ever After. I’m so excited for a chance to read Otherworldly, but I recently found out about Love at Second Sight, so I’d like to check that one out too. Honestly, their books hooked me SO FAST.
Im reading this one called "THE T IN LGBTQ" by a youtuber named Dr. Jamie Raines
I recommend "Act Cool" by Tobly McSmith! It's novel about a college-age trans man named August who has escaped his home life in Pennsylvania and is taking theatre classes. The author is also a trans man, making it's contents infinitely more down to earth (coming from a trans man myself)
