12:43 That "small" test was actually 100 tons of TNT for the purpose of calibrating their instruments before the Trinity test.

I’m impressed that Marion is well informed even more so than a LOT of Americans 👍

A German professor, retained by the Nazis, made a mistake about graphite as a moderator (easier to get than graphite). The German professors are never questioned. The supply of heavy water from Norway was interdicted by Norwegian commandos.

@StephenLuke

This has to be the best historical film I ever watched in 2023!!! Not a single CGI effect was shown! Nolan is the best director with practical effects!!!

@dudermcdudeface3674

My gramps fought Japan. He was furious that I even played Nintendo. lol

@redviper6805

My Dad was a nuclear engineer and could easily understand the nuclear terminology in this movie. He could have easily helped you learn those words. Just wish this movie had come out before 2021.

The surviving author of the book it’s based on met the cast and crew. According to Murphy, American Prometheus was required reading for the movie. There is an Oppenheimer documentary on Peacock called To End all Wars, people being interviewed include the Director and the surviving author. You two might like it

My great-grandfather was involved with the project in Oak Ridge, TN. I don’t know if he ever talked about it to my grandmother or anyone else.

Fun fact: Per the transcripts of his testimony, Hill was not only disgusted by the treatment of Oppenheimer but also had serious misgivings about Strauss' leadership abilities based on his time as head of the AEC, characterizing him as a micromanager who frequently ignored the advice of the very scientists he brought in to furnish him with information, and prioritized secrecy and controlling the flow of information over transparency and a well-informed scientific community and the general public. Whilst Hill recognized that Strauss may well have believed this was for the greater good, he felt it nevertheless hampered the work of his fellow scientists and did not reflect the qualities best suited to a government official. Hill also took issue with Strauss' attempts to further his credibility for the nomination by citing the approval of scientists who were no longer alive to speak for themselves, such as Hill's close friend and colleague Enrico Fermi, as well as what he saw as Strauss' failure/unwillingness to vigorously repudiate the claims of a book published in 1950 that Hill saw as a deliberate hatchet job intended to undermine and discredit Oppenheimer and throw the Los Alamos team under the bus for the Russians obtaining the A-bomb and not pushing harder on the H-bomb; as the only person quoted by the book who did not publicly disavow its conclusions, Strauss supposedly criticized it only on the basis that its publication was not at the time politically expedient, and that it should have been published long after those named in it were dead (and unable to contradict it).

@andrewcrowder4958

Thank you for reacting to this important film. It may interest you to know that Einstein visited Japan in 1923 and lectured in three university towns: Tokyo, Kyoto, and... Hiroshima. Greetings and best wishes from Kyoto.

@ravensdark99

In my opinion that movie has the single scariest ending dialogue in movie history...the last sentences scared the living crap out of me and everyone I know...

@theoutdoorslifetv3200

I do believe Robert would have been mortified to have his private life splashed all over the movie screen.

@maxvonsydow6180

Nice 👍🎬, guys you should do some IMDB trivia after every movie, would be nice addition...

A channel called Kirsty Cotton is stealing MJoy4Fun videos. I reported them to Youtube.

@31:49 Germany did have a nuclear program, however, it was never remotely as well funded or organized as the American program and never came anywhere close to producing an operational nuclear bomb. The Allies never really had a good picture of how far along the Nazi program was so the race to produce nuclear weapons first was in reaction to what was perceived as a real threat of Nazi weapons being developed and used. Russia (soon to become the USSR) jumped in late and (with allegedly stolen information from the US) developed nuclear weapons shortly after the end of WWII. That Russian program was not a reaction to the German program but more one towards the US (and other Western Countries) and their (accurate) hostility towards the spread of communism, particularly in Eastern Europe.

@Marjolein26264

I know this all happened about 80 years ago but I'm surprised that you didn't know Oppenheimer was 'the father of the nuclear bomb'. I thought everyone would know this, even now...🤯
